The Reunification Anniversary Monument Being one of the most recent representation of the country's past, present and future, this monument of triple fold significance has been the center of attraction in the touristic town of Buea. Unveiled to the public in February 2014 during the fiftieth anniversary of independence/
reunification by His Excellency President Paul Biya, the striking physical magnificence of this iconic work of arts cannot go unnoticed.
This imposing edifice which weighs 162 tons, is 17.2 meters in diameter and 10 meters high, consisting of 10 pillars around a 2-ton reunification logo made of glass fiber. This beautiful expression of architectural mastery has embellished the esplanade of the South West Governor's office where it is located, forming an attractive picturesque view with Mount Cameroon so conspicuously present in the background.
Meanwhile there exists a mild controversy among scholars as to the limited ability of the monument to convey the reunification/independence story through its physical representations. But this does not rule out the physical splendor of the monument that keeps recording a huge flogging in of visitors to the site since its inauguration.
