National Day The national day celebrations commemorate the birth of a Unitary State in the country on May 20th 1972 under Ahmadou Ahidjo's presidency. The event is marked by week-long activities such as seminars, sporting events, conferences and a host of others which all promote the yearly theme of the event. The splendor and might of the country is highlighted by a military-civilian march past full of colour and grace held in regional and divisional headquarters all around the national territory. The most grandiose celebration takes place in Yaounde at the famous 20th May Boulevard and it is the most revered of all as it is presided by the President of the Republic.
This event of utmost importance to Cameroon as a nation is graced by high profile guests including those from the diplomatic corp, members of government, famous businessmen and members of the civil society. The day is crowned by a dinner offered by the presidential couple at the Unity Palace with a lavished display of our matchless cuisine accompanied by some international dishes.
